GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado: Which One is Better for Loveland, Longmont, Wyoming and Denver?

Comparing the GMC Sierra to the Chevy Silverado is much like comparing Stallions of the same bloodline. Although both have their own high and low points, the numbers show that the Chevy Silverado seems to be more popular for buyers. In fact, in one year alone, the Silverado sold more than 700,000 while the Sierra got roughly 200,000 off the market. The difference between the sales seems to be constant throughout.

Sierra - Silverado Style and Trim

Of the two, the Silverado is the one used as a reference for standard pick-up truck sizes. As early as the year 1999, it has been the mold followed, hence the very familiar trim of the GMC Sierra. Looking inside, however, the GMC Sierra gains a lead with its more luxurious surroundings. Excellent seats, a roomy interior, as well as a more polished look for the dash – the GMC Sierra went for comfort as their selling point.

Sierra - Silverado Under the Hood

Of course, what is under the hood is something else entirely. In this matter, the Sierra and Silverado are neck to neck in showcasing their engine power. Two different lines improved every year, it stands to reason that what is under the hood varies from one point to the next.

During 1999, however, the year which both models really got recognition – an engine boasting of 4.3 L V6 option with a 195 HP and 260 lb-ft was the popular capacity. There were also those that were released with a 6.2 L V8 with a capacity of up to 403 HP and 417 lb-ft torque.

Sierra - Silverado So Which One is Better?

Both having characteristics worthy of being called a great truck, the Sierra and Silverado are definitely worth the money you intend to pay them – regardless of the year model you will be getting them in. Bearing in mind the facilities of each one, however, buyers are advised to consider exactly how they would be using the vehicle. For daily driving comfort, the GMC Sierra is the one. For backbreaking, high-power work, however, the Silverado is preferable.
